Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the ClueForge mobile application. By installing or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app.

1. Licence to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use ClueForge on devices you own or control for your private, non-commercial entertainment. This licence does not give you ownership of the app; all rights not expressly granted are reserved.

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app except as permitted by applicable law.
• Redistribute, sublicense, rent, or sell the app or any part of its puzzle database.
• Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices.
• Use the app to violate any applicable law or to harass other people.

2. Puzzle content and clue cards

All riddles, hints, clue-card templates, theme artwork, brand marks (“CLUEFORGE”, the anvil-and-keyhole logo), and narrative framings are © the ClueForge authors and licensed under the “proprietary” marker in the shipped database.

You may print the clue cards the app generates and use them for your own personal parties, family gatherings, classroom activities, or small social events at no cost. You may not sell, publish, or redistribute the cards or the underlying riddle text as standalone products, books, or courses.

3. Your game, your room

ClueForge is a party game. You are responsible for the physical environment in which it is played. Before starting a session:

• Ensure the room is safe for all players to move around in.
• Check for trip hazards and sharp edges if players will be moving to scan QR cards.
• Supervise children under 13 during play.
• Respect other occupants of the space.

The Game Master (the person running the app) is responsible for setting a reasonable difficulty, supervising hints, and ending the session if a player needs a break.

4. Advertising

ClueForge is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. Ad revenue keeps the app free and covers hosting, trademark, and future content authoring. See the Privacy Policy for details on what AdMob collects and how to manage your consent.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time via Settings → Ads → Manage ad consent. This will not remove ads entirely, only reduce their relevance.

5. Fair play

ClueForge trusts players to compete in good faith. Please do not use the app in ways that harass, endanger, or discomfort other players. Disputes between players about riddle answers are for the Game Master to resolve; the app publishes correct-answer hashes but does not arbitrate human interpretation.

6. Updates and changes to the app

We may release updates that add, change, or remove features of the app. Updates are distributed through the Google Play Store according to your device’s update settings. We reserve the right to end support for earlier Android versions when it becomes impractical to maintain them.

7. No warranty

ClueForge is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from defects. We are not liable for:

• Frustration caused by particularly difficult clues.
• Disagreements between friends over the correct answer to a riddle.
• Damage to your printer, paper, or ink supply during clue-card printing.
• Any consequential or incidental damages arising from use of the app.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties; the above may not apply to you in full.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted in the app’s release notes on the Play Store. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the ClueForge publisher is established. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence.
